I went to Champlain Heights School when I was in Jr. High. I had Mr. Smith as a teacher and we had our differences during this time in my life. I later became an R.C.M.P officer and then a Saint John City police officer. While working uniform I became a Ride Along member and dealt with teacher John Frost and Win at Simonds Jr. Because of Win, I had students, that were interested in becoming poiice officers later in life. I had great respect for him after this time and he will be greatly missed. So very sorry for your loss. My he R.I.P.

In 1966 Winston Smith would teach me about defining moments in life. They will teach you, build strength and character, good or bad they will create a memorable life lesson he would explain. His lesson would guide me through life especially during the successful Saint John Clean Air Campaign in 1994-1997. This September my eldest Grandaughter Emily excitedly entered middle school calling the experience a defining moment. Like her Mom at Simonds Jr. she volunteers with Teachers, Students and Admin. Staff. Three (3) generations later, his wisdom and influence continues, his educational legacy in my family forever etched. Blessings & prayers to his beloved Lynn and Family. See you Friday. Lynn, we are so sad to hear of Winn's passing. In the short space of time that we spent with him in St John he sparkled with such deep personality, he looked and listened to what was being said by others and we clicked as soon as we met. We have lovely memories and know that we will be thinking about you and the family in the coming days. With much love from Belfast

Dear Lynn and family. I am so sorry to hear of Win's passing. Many of my fondest teaching memories were of my early years teaching at Simonds Jr when Win was VP then returning when he was principal. He was certainly an inspiration for my many years in administration as I remembered his firm but fair manner. May you all find comfort in happy memories as you grieve your husband, father and grandfather's passing. I am sorry I am unable to attend the memorial. May he rest in peace. Jackie Stroud
