To Ben and Mary Ellen and the entire Scholten Family. Sorry we were unable to personally express our heartfelt condolences to you and the rest of your great family for your loss of Mr. and Mrs. Scholten. We will cherish our memories of them both including the New Years eve dinner and evening (ice storm!), their always pleasant welcoming into their home on the west side and Red head, and the many random meetings at the Pumpkin patch and shopping. Peter taught me a lot about hardwork and landscaping , especially working long days planting trees, flowers, sod, etc. at the New Irving Building on Union street. Loved their sense of Humor and dedication. We are all better persons for knowing them.God bless them and you all.

My memory of your parents are of their early married years on Brandy Point Road where we summering city kids would go to the small farm on Sunday to get a chicken for Sunday dinner....not much fresher than that! Fresh vegetables from the garden.. Your parents were learning English and there was a couple of little children during those years but certainly not 8. I saw the beginning of Peter's career in Canada and after I returned to Saint John 45 years later, I have become aware of the wonderful success your Mom and Dad made of their lives in Canada. How fortunate we in the Saint John area have been to have their talents and values given to us.

Sorry to hear about your father's death. I would have loved to have seen his famed garden and learned some tips from him. It sounds like both your parents were of the very best sort. My dear father was full of his own version of Peterisms. I wanted to pass on the great thing he said just before he died, "Off to the next great adventure"!

My condolences to the Scholten Family on the passing of their Dad. I have very fond memories of their short time on Brandy Point Rd. Peter instilled in my mother a love of gardening which she tried to instill in us. Peter certainly contributed to making Saint John a better place.
