My deepest and heartfelt condolences to you and your family. I heard about Moshe passing and thought that the world has lost a great spirit. I have never met anyone like him! Wholly unique and full of stories. I will never forget the summers spent picking raspberries for Moshe to sell at the market. I learned many lessons about life and commerce from him those summers! As well as learning about the joy to be found in the smallest thing in the great outdoors.

Even when we moved away to the UK, Moshe continued to send us his funny emails and jokes. I will miss them, and him. The cherished memories will always remain.

My family’s thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Moshe - You were part of us and our family. We knew each other from our early days in Canada in the 70's when we all were young. You showed our daughters Rachael and Anna how to see the magic in the raspberries. We loved your story and also your stories! You brought some of your magic into our lives and we were changed because of knowing you. We did not know you were ill and feel bereft to know you have gone without any chance to tell you how much we valued you. However, you will always remain part of us. You were family.

Cheryl, we know how you must miss him. Please don't forget we are here for you. Our love and hugs to help you through this sad time. Let's hope that one day soon, we will meet again. Moshe will be with us and we will remember the lovely man he was.

Dear Cheryl, all our thoughts are with you at this very sad time. I loved Moshe very much and will never forget the days spent at your home and picking in his raspberry fields when I was young. His mind was full of beautiful thoughts which he always shared and which have stuck with me for a lifetime. The endearing names he chose for his cats, his love of nature and his garden, his rooftop balcony built to see further across the land, his love of good food and the fun in life. He was an amazing man and for me he always will be standing in the sunshine, smiling and laughing. I am sorry I can't be at the service today. Here in England my family will be thinking of you and sending you strength. Love Rachael, James, Maddie and Lucie xxxx

Cheryl and Family
Please accept my condolence. Moshe was a wonderful person, I enjoyed the times that were spent chatting with him about his garden. Through his love of gardening he inspired me to start my own garden. I will always remember his kind words of encouragement as I started gardening. He was my father's best friend and a dear friend to the rest of us. His smile and kindness will be missed.

Moshe was one of my close friends. We spent many times laughing and chatting about everything and nothing! Some of my fondest memories are our trips to get our hair cut (alot of fun). I will always remember him as a kind, knowledgeable person with a heart of gold. He will be greatly missed.

I will try this once again, as I am not too computer literate and started a message already... if this shows up twice it is because I was not finished and it went somewhere. Barry and I made a special trip to the Lebanese Market in Halifax last week with orders from Moshe. I want Macedonian Feta cheese, lots of it. Also, I want those little green peppers in a jar, maybe 2 bottles, hot but not too hot. Come , June 18/16 and bring them to me. This was the way it was with our friendship but usually it was "the perfect knife" that he sent me in search for. I always obliged. Why? Simply I loved him, the essence of him, the soul and spirit of him and my husband also after he knew him and they learned to dance together. When we were all together the last time Barry kissed him good bye, maybe they knew. Moshe always said to him '"there is a look that passes between men" " an unspoken message". That says something about Moshe to teach a man "jock' like my husband to learn to dance and kiss....Well Cheryl, It will be a time of mourning and loss, however, we mourn someone unique and very special. Moshe touched lives all over the world. He could reach corners of people that no one else could reach. He was honest and you could depend on him to tell you exactly what he thought. I am sorry that Barry and I will not be there to support you tomorrow but I know that many of your family and close friends will be there for you. We will always remember Moshe and the special times we spent together as couples. We laughed a lot. After your call Friday, I brought out the 3 kg. pail of Macedonian Feta Cheese and the two quarts of green peppers, not too hot, raised my arms to heaven and said" what shall I do with this Moshe? Our love to you with blessings for your diligence and care until the last moments for our dear friend and your husband Moshe, Cheryl, thank you.

My condolences to the Granik Family. I met Moshe when I was chairperson of the Parents Advisory Committee at HMJHS and he would share with me how much more he could do for his students if he just had more resources. His room was always buzzing with excitement and you could feel the love the students had for him and he for them. I loved listening to stories that he so lovingly told of his home country and yet how grateful he was to be living in Canada. Moshe, you will live on in the hearts of the many lives that you touched and we are better for having known you. Rest in Peace

Dear Cheryl and Family,

Ruth and I extend our deepest condolences to you and your family at your
great loss. There was and is no one like Moshe, such a unique and loving
individual. Truly a pleasure to be with, to enjoy his zest and enthusiasm
about life. Even in the last weeks the nurturer, the gardener who shared
his "midnight serious" flowering plant and who made sure to go outside
to take the flowers off the rhubarb. And with plants and with people, friends
and family, he both gave and received freely.

We treasure his memory and each day try a little to share in his complete enjoyment
of the cosmos.

Our Loving Regards, Carl & Ruth

Dear Mrs. Granik and Family,
My heartfelt sympathy on the passing of your wonderful husband, step Dad, brother and friend, Moshe Granik. Mr. Granik was my favourite childhood Hebrew teacher in the early '70's. I remember him vividly. I was a student who struggled in school. Somehow, in Mr. Granik's Hebrew school class, I thrived. I learned to read Hebrew well, a skill I take pride in, to this day. In fact, he used to say that I was the fastest Hebrew speed reader in the class and he inspired me to do better. He was kind, funny and he had a nickname for me, 'Tzip', (Shayna Tziporah) after his sister, which I always felt was a huge compliment.I met Mr. Granik in recent years at the Saint John reunion in 2009.I will never forget him. My heart is full of sadness today, but also joy, in having the privilege of being taught by Mr. Granik. Sincerely,Janie Sue

My siblings, my cousins, and I all went through years of Hebrew school with Mr. Granik as our teacher. I have so many wonderful and funny memories of those times. He always told us such far fetched stories and I'm sure took great pleasure in watching us try to figure out if they were true or not. Our condolences to his family. He will be missed by generations of Hebrew school students.
