Lucinda Runa Paixao

Lucinda Conceição Runa died peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on August 29th, 2015 at the age of 92.  Lucinda was born on April 2nd, 1923 in Melroeira, Portugal but had resided in Canada for the last 27 years. She was a homemaker.

She is preceded in death by parents Luis Bernardinho and Maria Dores, by husband António Reis, and by two sisters Jasuina and Silvéria.

Lucinda is survived by son Fernando Reis (Alda), and daughters Maria Assunção Paixão (José), Elvira Reis, and Conceição Roque (Jacinto); by ten grandchildren; Fernando Reis (Rute), Luís Reis (Ana Sofia), Ricardo Reis (Ana Carla), Nuno Paixão (Tracie), John Paixão (Alison), Richard Paixão (Stephanie),  Sérgio Silva (Fatima), Elisabete Silva (José), Anabela Tavares (Ahmed), and Marta Roque (Pedro); and by fifteen great grandchildren.

She was also fond of the Portuguese families here in Canada that became her extended family after moving here.  Thank you for everything Avó Lucinda. Say hello to Avô. Goodbye for now. We’ll see you soon.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 1st, 2015 from 11 am until service time.  The funeral is at 12:00 noon at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the SJRH Foundation or the Cathedral Restoration Project would be appreciated.  The family would like to thank the doctors and hospital staff of 5CN for their compassion and care.
