John "Jack" David Evans

John David "Jack" Evans passed away on Sunday, September 25,2016 at the age of 90. He was predeceased by his brothers Richard and Roy and sister Ruth Ellen.

He is survived by his wife Doris Marie (MacDonald) Evans; his four daughters Dawn Marie McLaren (Bruce), Ruth Ellen Evans, Mary Jo Nesbit (Donald), and Sarah Jane DeVarenne (Christopher); grandchildren David, Stuart, Maureen, and Benjamin; and four great grandchildren as well as a number of nieces and nephews, including nephew Frank Evans (Joanne), who held a special place in Jack's heart.

Jack was well known for his genuine, caring nature and his quiet generosity. He loved spending time with family, a good conversation about the latest cars, and sharing the wisdom gained over a lifetime. He worked for many years as the night shift Supervisor at the Rothesay Avenue Post Office before retiring to spend more time with family.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Turnbull Home for their kindness and exceptional care during Jack's final years.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424).  A celebration of Jack's life will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Forest Hills United Baptist Church in Saint John.  Visitation will be held from 11am to 12:45pm, with a memorial service at 1pm. Reception to follow in the Gymnasium.   In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the charity of your choice.
