It is with heavy hearts the family of John Oland Jellison, loving husband of Carol (Vienneau) Jellison, announce his passing which occurred on Monday, April 17, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in St. Stephen, NB on December 21, 1953; he was the son of the late John and Hazel (MacKenzie) Jellison. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his first wife Diane (Phillipe) Jellison.
John worked for Moosehead for 37 years, retiring from Shipping and Receiving in 2010. He was an avid sports fan. He was the founder of the Woman’s Softball in Saint John, receiving the Founder Award from the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame. He was a coach for East Saint John Minor Basketball, Simonds High School Basketball and East Saint John Girls Softball. John was a member and co-ordinator of the Thistle St. Andrew’s Sunday Night Curling League and the Moosehead Softball Team. He received a lifetime volunteer award from Softball New Brunswick. John was a coach and mentor throughout his life to his family and friends. He always kept a positive attitude and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Besides his loving wife of 29 years, Carol he is survived by his children Danielle Jellison (Andrew MacLeod), Corey Jellison (Tara Keeley) and Carl Jellison; cherished grandsons Connor and Noah; brother Steven Jellison; sisters Judith Wilson (Theodore) and Marie; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
By request there will be no visitations. A Memorial Service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 2 p.m. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 69, 714 Wilson Street, West Saint John. Remembrances in memory of John may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
