Frances was my junior choir director and my CGIT leader when I was growing up at Lancaster Baptist Church. Fran is also the one who encouraged me and many others to attend Leadership Camp at Camp Wegesegum. I am grateful for the Wegie connection as I have been going to various camps there for over 50 years. I have many fond memories of Fran with her caring and pleasant nature. So sorry I can't be there today but I have three grandchildren visiting this week.

How sad it makes us feel that you have lost someone you loved dearly. But even at this difficult time, how encouraging it is to think of what it says in Acts 24:15 “There is going to be a resurrection of … the righteous ...” When that promise is fulfilled, your loved one will be back with you again, healthy and happy. May this sure promise bring you comfort.

So sad to hear of the news of the passing of my vibrant Aunt Frances. I have many great memories of her visits and the wonderful stories she told. In particular, I will cherish the memories of spending a weekend with my younger sister Andrea and Frances at my Uncle Larry's cottage one summer. She taught us a few songs in harmony, one of which I still remember…"Tell Me Why". She had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest!

Condolences to the family. Reading the obituary brought back fond memories of my youth. I knew Frances from her time as our CGIT leader here at First Baptist Church Halifax from 1964 – 1969. Under her leadership, we regularly earned the Chevron from the national committee in recognition of our accomplishments.
Frances introduced us to the black community of Halifax. We held reciprocal meetings with Seaview Baptist Church and hosted the Africville CGIT for a meeting. We held two weekend camps and at Christmas we entertained 22 girls from the Beechville CGIT. Frances was also President of the World Wide Guild and worked with the Head Start Program at Cornwallis Street Baptist Church.
We all have good memories of camp. One year, I attended Camp Council with my good friend Margaret Fletcher who was President of Maritime Camp Council at Camp Wegesegum.
I also remember we all sold Christmas wrapping paper to raise money for the MS Society.
Right after I graduated from CGIT, Frances took the group on an exchange visit to the Senior Group of First Baptist Church Lancaster, and the following year we hosted them here. In 1969, most of the other girls graduated, the group folded and Frances retired from the Board of Christian Education.
She was also very good friends with my Aunt Maxine Morse. Together, they would host the Spring and Fall retreats at her cottage in Indian Harbour.
I am grateful to Frances for helping to prepare me so well for life. She was a great leader and an inspirational role model.

I am so sorry to hear about this amazing lady's passing. I would be a first cousin once removed but sad to say have had no contact with this family for many years. My mother, Hazel (Fowler) Melvin was Frannie's cousin and I had the very great privilege of having her sing at my wedding in 1960. She had a beautiful musical gift! Please accept my sincere condolences. I live in Nova Scotia and I would love to hear from some of my Prime relatives. Please let me know when and where a memorial service will be held. I will try to be there.
