Condolences to the family, just received the news. Father Bill was my Priest, my counselor, and most of all, my friend through a very difficult time in life. Over 30 years ago in Texas, I met Fr. Bill and continued a close relationship through 1988, then lost the close contact, but periodically making contact, as recent as 2011 as my daughter was readying for marriage. As I read some of the other condolences, please know how much he touched so many lives and made an impact that unfortunately, many will never know. He was the most genuine, caring, comforting, and comedic man I knew, always telling it like it was... His passing brought about many emotions, but I am confident, he will be celebrating in eternity with our Lord. God Bless, very respectfully, Jeff Ralston, Lt Col, USAF (Retired)

Our sincerest condolences to Fr. Bill's family. We are saddened by the news of his passing. Fr. Bill was such an inspiration and his passion for human rights could not be measured. Fr. Bill baptized all three of our children and we will always consider him a true friend, and although it's been years since he left our parish here in Austin, he has always been close in our hearts and minds. Our hope and prayers for Fr. Bill's family are that the many fond memories and the love you shared for each other will bring a smile to your face and comfort you on the days you miss him most.

Met Father Bill back a few years ago through a mutual friend (Paul MacKay) who has also passed on, way too soon. Always enjoyed meeting him any time after that, guess I will miss out on the invite to my wife and I to come out and have a meal with him when the weather got warmer. I can only imagine the chats & laughs he and Paul must be enjoying together. Two wonderful men who were loved dearly by their family and friends. Father Bills work in this community and abroad lives on as testimony to his love for God and for people!

Fr. Bill will live forever in our hearts. Fr. Bill was a true friend who inspired us to be faithful followers of Jesus. His leadership and energy at Our Lady of Guadalupe was more than we had ever seen from a parish priest. We were inspired by his truly bi-lingual homilies that promoted inclusion and comradeship among the congregation. We especially remember his presence and affirmation as we publicly renewed our wedding vows at Sunday Mass at OLG. We miss having dinner with Fr. Bill and others at Louie Bs in Austin, and socializing with Fr. Bill and bishop McCarthy at the pastor's residence. Our prayers go out to Fr. Bill's family. We wish them peace, and hope they are comforted, as we are, by all the wonderful memories. He was a great man and he will be greatly missed.

Father Bill was the BEST homolilst I have ever listened to in my life. I was fortunate to hear him at Holy Family in Corpus Christi and Our Lady of Guadalupe in Austin. His courageous stance against "the establishment" will never be forgotten. If there were more forgiving and loving priests like him, the Catholic church would not have the mass exodus it has, and I am certain Pope Francis would love to have more priests like him. RIP Father Bill; the world is a little brighter without you. X&O's

To the Elliott Family, Parishioners, Friends, Colleagues and all those who loved him!
Father was a holy man, who was strong in faith and views, and expressed both clearly, in his sermons and advice. He was a gentle soul, who wanted the best for those he served, and those around him. His life of service, touched many throughout the world. Those he touched, will never forget him. He came to serve, and serve he did. Well done, good and faithful servant. He has gone to his resting place in Heaven, with the Angels! I expect he will continue to pray for us, in our time of grief, and on our life's journey! Until we meet again... My RCIA journey began at Our Lady of Guadalupe parish after attending Mass there for several months and listening to Father Bill's lively and timely sermons. While I finished RCIA at another parish and subsequently left Austin, I will never forget the blessing that Father Bill and Our Lady of Guadalupe were to me. My condolences to the Elliott family, and may the words of St. John Chrysostom bring you comfort: "He whom we love and lose is no longer where he was. He is now wherever we are." Rest well in the arms of the Lord, Father Bill. Thank you for touching my life.

I met Father Bill in 1998 when he was at Our Lady of Guadalupe in East Austin. Always a walking example of God's love and a gifted messenger. At one mass, my then 2 year old and I were walking in and Father Bill was greeting the congregation. Standing there in his white priest robes and his snow white hair and beard, my daughter gasps aloud, points at him and starts running toward him as she loudly said, "God! God!" Father Bill smiled, opened his arms wide and embraced her as she threw her arms around his neck. He blessed her and put her in my arms. I've always remembered this; such a humble man--direct, yes but humble. May God bless his soul and give his family and friends solace.

A beloved servant of Christ has gone to heaven. Father Bill Elliott was a wonderful priest and motivator, taking the word of God out to the streets of Corpus Christi, reaching out, and bringing hundreds of people back to church. He was a fireball, full of life and the Holy Spirit, not afraid to speak his mind and always ready with open arms and his beautiful smile. He touched so many hearts in our community that the local Boy's and Girl's club was named after him. Father Bill was there for my family during our darkest moment, when we struggled through my son's illness and then through his death. He gave a beautiful homily at Markie's funeral mass. Markie loved Father Bill and called him Jesus. 🙂 Markie loved that he could get away with anything at church. He always wanted to walk around and go up to the altar when Father was preaching. I would struggle to keep him contained...he was an active 3 year old. Father told me just to let Markie go to the altar, that it was beautiful that he wanted to. Thank you, Father Bill, for the love you shared with us and for helping me let go and give Markie back to God. You are rejoicing in heaven with Markie and Jesus, I'm sure. Until we meet again, please continue to watch over us. ❤️

Father Bill, my heart is heavy but my soul is rejoicing of all the great memorable moments when you were at Our Lady of Guadalupe-Austin. What I have missed the most are your chuckles during a homily, the facial expressions from the congregation when you were trying to make a point during your homily and of course the claps after a great-powerful homily (which seemed to be every wkend). Your teddy bear hugs have been missed. I was in the darkness for many-many years until I heard you speak one day at mass. Even though I had been sitting in the pews before I had never really HEARD you speak. It was my time to actually hear what you were saying. That week after I went to my first confession with you I thought I would have to be taken out by stretcher because I couldn't feel my legs, my shoulders-chest were no longer tighten. You often talked to me about Forgiveness. My soul got lost again after you left our parish but not for too long. On November 11th I celebrate the day you baptized my son and the day my husband and I were married. You were the first Priest to knock on my heart & wake up my soul. Your compassion, love, dedication for Christ and for Me has impacted my life forever. Thank you Father Bill for being such a warrior of Christ ~ Forever in my Heart

What a wonderful angel to have in Heaven waiting for us! We met Father Bill around 1977 or so when we were presenting Marriage Encounter Weekends. We fell in love with this man of Christ who brought such love, joy, and humor into everyone's life. We went all over the states presenting ME. We were to go to Peru as missionaries with him but his superior decided it was too dangerous to return to South America.
Then we were blessed to have him in Corpus Christi. What a blessing for that parish. He was such a part of everyone's life. If he touched your life, you did not forget him. He had that special gift to make you feel special and loved.
I have been asking about him for the last 6 months but no one knew where he was.
Bill, may you rest in Peace - and please do not argue with God, just say "Yes. my God. We will always love you.

God sent us an Angel to proclaim his great news and now has gone to rest with our heavenly Father. Thank you Father Bill for coming to our lives preaching the good news and standing up for our rights here in East Austin. Although you have been gone from Austin many years ago your shadow lingers here in Our Lady of Guadalupe church and will remain for ever.

Meet Father Bill thorough my sister-in-law, Irene Bigney. When I was home for a visit and I went to Church with her. I asked him if he except a good Protestant Girl in his Church and was told all were welcome. Every time I was home for a visit I would go to Church with Irene. He was such a heart warming person. I bought a beautiful Cross at the Catholic Store on Waterloo St. and he blessed it for me. I'm sure all the people ion his parish is missing him. But I believe his spirit will live on in the Church thorough all the people that came into contact with him. He is no longer in pain and is resting with the Heavenly Fasther.

Our condolences to the family of Fr. Bill. He was loved by ALL the parishioners of Holy Family Church in Corpus Christi, TX. Fr. Bill became part of our family (Andy Andrade & fam.). On Sundays, he would always come over to have lunch or dinner and it was a privilege to have Fr. Bill in our home. We have lost a Great Priest, but gained a saint in heaven! Amen

Father Bill personally lobbied the Provincial Government to fund the very first Nurse Practitioner at the HOPE Centre.
I was blessed to be the one to open the Health Centre to the public! This was such a great joy for him.
It was his passion to see the people of his parish have access to Health Care close to home!
Thankful for his life and generous spirit! Prayers for his family and friends

I am sadden with the news of Fr. Bill's passing. I have nothing but fond memories of him at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Austin, TX. He married me and my wife, baptized my oldest child, and presided over the funeral of my father. He was definitely a character who was moved by the Holy Spirit. You could always tell because he had such a way with words. He was very instrumental in my faith journey. My condolences and prayers. He will always be remembered and loved.

It is with great sadness that I am reading of Father Bill's passing. I only met him in 2007, when he gave last rites to my husband Joe Wilband, they had grown up together in the East End. When Joe passed I asked him to do the service. I will never forget the wonderful tribute he wrote about their childhood & the days in the East End. Father Kevin Barry assisted with the mass & the three had been friends in their younger years. My deepest sympathy goes to his family. My thoughts & prayers are with you at this most difficult time.
