R. Kingsley Churchill

October 22, 1926 ~ May 24, 2015 (age 88) 88 Years Old


With heavy hearts, the family of R. Kingsley Churchill announces his passing, which occurred at Bobby’s Hospice, Saint John, NB on May 24, 2015, surrounded by his family. Born in Halifax on October 22, 1926, he was the son of the late Roy and Margery (Blackadar) Churchill. 
After graduating from Dalhousie University and the Technical University of Nova Scotia in Chemical Engineering, Kingsley enjoyed a forty year career in the pulp and paper industry, initially with Fraser’s in Edmundston and then with Nova Scotia Forest Industries in Port Hawkesbury as the company's Technical and Environmental Manager. A highly respected member of his profession, Kingsley also served as President of the Canadian Pulp and Paper Association (Technical Division). 
Kingsley was active in community affairs, most notably as President and founding member of the Port Hawkesbury Curling Club, a member of the municipal council, and a volunteer with the Strait Area Educational and Recreational Center and the Rotary Club. A lifetime sailor, Kingsley was Commodore of the Port Hawkesbury Sailing Club, and a member of the St. Margaret Sailing Club. 
Kingsley is survived by his loving wife of sixty-six years, Pauline (Major), daughters Lee Wilkinson (Chip) of League City, Texas, Susan Sheehan (John) of Grand Bay-Westfield, grandchildren Brendan Sheehan (Duyen Nguyen), Catherine Saunders (Jake), and Sarah Thompson (Brett)  and his sister Ann Presutti of Tennessee. In addition to his parents, Kingsley was predeceased by his step-mother Clare (Henley Cross), his brother-in-law Henry Presutti, and his cousin, Peggy Long. 
In keeping with Kingsley’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral. A private interment service will take place at the William Black Memorial United (New) Cemetery, in Glen Margaret, NS, at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances to the Salvation Army or Hospice of Greater Saint John would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John.
