Susan Edna Hobson

The family is saddened to announce the passing of Susan Edna (Hayward) Hobson, age 76, who passed away on Tuesday, May 19, at the Saint John Regional Hospital following a period of failing health.

Susan was the beloved wife of the late Neil Hobson, who predeceased her in 2023 — despite her very clear wishes that she should go first. No doubt he is hearing about that from her now.

Born on April 30, 1950, Susan was the daughter of the late Neil and Edna (Durdan) Hayward. She grew up in Fairville, west Saint John, graduated from Saint John Vocational School, and worked as a secretary before embracing the role she cherished most: becoming a mother to her son Greg in 1983.

In addition to her husband and parents, Susan was predeceased by her grandparents; her cherished nephew, Brandon; her parents-in-law, Keith and Daisy Hobson; brother-in-law, Adrian Hobson; and sister-in-law, Doris Hobson.

Susan is lovingly remembered by her devoted son, Greg; her brother, Jim Hayward; her sisters, Valerie Bogle (George) and Carol Hayward; her brothers-in-law, Clive Hobson (Elaine) and Roy Hobson (Maryna Polyakova); her sisters-in-law, Joy Hobson and Heather Telman; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now in the presence of her Saviour, reunited with Neil and with the children they never had the opportunity to hold in this life.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road (506) 646-2424. A visitation will take place Friday May 22, 2026, 2-4 & 6-8. A funeral service will be held on Saturday May 23, 2026, at 2:00pm followed by a reception.
