Shirley Irene (Brittain) Graves

It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Irene Graves, wife of the late John Henry Graves of Saint John announces her passing, which occurred on Wednesday, October 19th 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on December 14th, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Laura and Leonard Brittain.

Shirley was a very loving, social, caring and compassionate person inside and out. Her family were always number one in her heart, she would do anything for them. In her spare time, Shirley enjoyed playing cards, cooking and reading numerous novels. She attended St. George’s Anglican Church and participated in the church choir, devoted to her faith.  

Shirley will be remembered by her loving children; Elizabeth “Lynn” O’Keefe, David Graves, Diane (David) Silliphant, Carol Lee Ouellette and Mark (Alison) Graves. She is also survived by grandchildren; Andrew, Craig, Chris, Jeremy, Michael, Sean, Ashley and Jordan, great grandchildren; Austin, Harrison, Theodore, Sophia, Michael, Carly, Shanna and Jeremy.

Shirley will be forever missed by her best friend and cat, Bubba.

In addition to her parents and husband, Henry, she is predeceased by her son in-law Thomas Charles and grand daughter, Jennifer Ann.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424).  There will be no formal visitation as Shirley’s remains have been accepted to the Dalhousie Medical Research Center as per her request.

A memorial service will take place from the Fundy Funeral Home chapel on Saturday, October 22nd 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to arrive at 9:00 a.m.

Memorial donations in memory of Shirley may be made towards the Alzheimer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
