Shirley Jean (Thompson) GorhamNovember 8, 1934 ~ December 30, 2017 (age 83)
It is with sorrow and sadness the family of Shirley Jean Gorham announce her passing which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on December 30, 2017. Born on the Kingston Shore Road, Erb’s Cove on November 8, 1934, she was the youngest child of 13 children; daughter of the late George and Fannie (Morrell) Thompson.
Shirley worked for Sears for 15 years. She was loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Shirley is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years Robert “Bob” Gorham, sons Brian (Roberta) and Geoffrey (Allison Elliott); daughter Elaine Walker (David) all of Long Reach; daughter-in-law Susan Gorham of Saint John; grandchildren Leah, Ben, Kevin, Erica, Graham and Allison; great-grandchildren Eli, Eve, Hartley, Burke, Hudson and Leighton; sisters Clara Pearl of Vancouver, BC and Florence Totten of Saint John; nieces, nephews and friends. Along with her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her son Stewart Gorham and several siblings.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation to be held on Friday January 5th from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Memorial service will be held from St. Luke’s Anglican Church, 12 Quispamsis Road, Quispamsis on Saturday January 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m., followed by a reception. Interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in Shirley’s memory can be made to St. Luke’s Anglican Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
