Welcome to the memorial page for

Joan Catherine Bonnevie

February 5, 2016

It is with profound sadness the family announces the passing of Joan Catherine (Stapleton) Bonnevie on Friday, February 5, 2016 at Kennebec Manor.

Joan was born on April 27, 1942 in Halifax NS, but was a country girl at heart.  After moving to Titusville to raise her children, that fact became very apparent.  She loved to garden, loved to cook and bake, loved to knit and make crafts.  She took pleasure in watching the hummingbirds that came into her garden while she enjoyed a nice cup of tea.  And her summers at the trailer with her husband were always a great thing to look forward to.   She was very devoted to her family and hand made all of her children’s clothing when they were growing up.

Joan worked as a Nursing Assistant in the Health Care industry and then later in the private sector, retiring just 8 years ago.  She was a giving and caring person, through and through.

Joan will be deeply missed by her children; Dave Bonnevie, Deborah (Andrew) Walton, Tom Bonnevie, and Jo-Ann (James) Gordon, and her five grandchildren; Sarah (Matthew) Speight, Katlin, Mackenzie, Austin and Collin.

She was predeceased by her husband Douglas Bonnevie and by daughter Janice Bonnevie.

Joan’s family would like to express their utmost gratitude to the staff of Kennebec Manor for the care and compassion that they showed to Joan from the second she walked in the door of their establishment.  She was treated with grace and dignity and the staff was not only a tremendous support system for Joan herself, but that also spilled over to her family as well in the last hours in her journey to God.  The family wants the staff to know that this made it much easier based on your level of integrity in caring for our mother.  Thank you.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424).  In keeping with Joan’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.  A private family burial will be held at a later date.  Memorial donations made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
