Welcome to the memorial page for

Elizabeth "Betty" Jane Doucette

August 17, 2016

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Doucette on August 17, 2016 at Loch Lomond Village.  She was the wife to the late Melvin Joseph Doucette, born on October 18, 1928 in Saint John to the late James Thomas McCracken, from England and Lavina Agnes (Reid) of Saint John.  She is survived by Mary Jane (Steven) Smith, Susan (Robert) Keeley and Michael (Wendy) Doucette.  She is also survived by one special sister and best friend, Effie McAuliffe (Greg).  Grandchildren; Jeffrey Smith, Krista Smith, Danielle Smith, Tara Keeley and Michael Doucette Jr. and great grandchildren; Joshua, Melissa, Jacob and Noah.

Along with her husband Melvin, she was predeceased by her brothers Bill and Jim McCracken and sister Agnes (McCracken) Hosford, and infant son Brian.

Prior to marriage, Betty worked for Brooke Bond (Red Rose Tea Factory) and then later to F. W. Woolworths & Co.  After she had her children, she stayed home to raise them.  She attended Stella Maris Church regularly.  She was married on July 16, 1952 on Dad’s birthday!  Her family will long remember her for the encouragement and support she gave to each of them and the special place she had in her heart for each of her grandchildren.  She was a member of Stella Maris church and in her younger years, attended St. Peter’s Church.  She was a member of the RCL Branch #69 Legion and Seniors Group.  She loved to go on van trips with her friends and driving in the car with her family listening to nice music.  She was a loving and dedicated mother to her children.  Her children were number one and she always encouraged them and showed great enthusiasm for anything and everything they wanted to achieve in life.  She had a heart of gold and she was one of a kind.  Her children will miss the special love and attention she showed to each one of them.  Mom gave so much to all and expected so little in return.  We pray that you have finally found the peace that you have surely earned.  We know that you are near and that you’ll always walk beside us and that we will always hold you dear.  Betty was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Betty’s last 7 years were spent under the caring staff of the Loch Lomond Villa.

Betty will be resting at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Thursday, August 18th 2016 between 6:00-8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 19th 2016 at 12:10 from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
