Clifford Winslow Jones

Clifford “Cliff” Jones of Chance Harbour passed away at Ridgewood Veterans Hospital on Thursday January 22, 2015.

Born in New Maryland, NB November of 1924 he was the son of the late Byron and Gertrude Levinia (Lyons) Jones. Clifford was a WWII Veteran enlisting in 1942 and serving overseas as a Staff Sargeant with the Military Police (Provost Corps) 1944-1946.He was a mechanic by trade and worked for Atomic Energy in Chalk River for over 30 years retiring in 1980. Clifford also worked with PTE Services as an Instructor for School Bus Drivers; a volunteer for EMO; Deacon and Active Member of Chance Harbour Baptist Church; Honorary Deacon of the Seaside Baptist Church and enjoyed working at Camp Tulakadik.

Cliff is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 38 years, Sylvia (Thomson) Jones of Chance Harbour; daughters Elizabeth Spour of Arnprior, ON, Jane Sherwood (Richard) of Scarborough, ON and Susan Allen (Dan) of Guelph, ON; sister Pearl Nixon of Fredericton; sister-in-law Shirley Jones of Pembroke, ON; grandchildren Rebecca, Jonathan, Emily, Matthew and John; two great-grandsons; cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, Clifford was predeceased by two brothers Blaine Jones and John Hill.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Friday January 23rd from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a Veterans Tribute service to begin at 7:00 p.m.  Funeral service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday January 24th at 10:00 a.m. Private family interment to take place at Thomson Burying Ground, Dipper Harbour.
