Ann (Lewis) Roy

September 8, 1922 ~ March 19, 2017 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Ann Roy passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Merthyr, Tydfil, Wales on September 8, 1922 she was the daughter of the late Bartholomew and Margaret (O’Hara) Lewis. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Clifford Joseph Roy; daughter Patricia Garnett, son-in-law Lester Bigney; siblings Bartholomew Lewis, Gerry Lewis, John Lewis, Billy Lewis, Michael Lewis and Margaret Lewis all of Wales.

Ann was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She immigrated to Canada as a War Bride. Ann was a kind loving woman, she loved to knit, play cards and Bingo.

She is survived by her daughter Irene Bigney, grandchildren Clifford Bigney (Christy), Wayne Gordon and Kim Turple (Alex); several great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, visitation will be held from Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Wednesday, March 22 from 4 to 8 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 10 a.m., followed by a reception in the H.O.P.E. Center. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Remembrances in memory of Ann may be made to the H.O.P.E Center or Bobby’s Hospice.
