Winston Elwood Cossaboom peacefully began his Heavenly journey on Dec. 20, after a brief illness at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
He was born in Saint John on April 6, 1939 to the late Vinton Elwood and Lois Maude (Morse) Cossaboom. A true Westsider, he spent his formative years growing up in a busy family home on Guilford St.
Although Winston had many jobs, he was most proud of being a member of the Saint John City Police Department, a job he held for 31 years, retiring as Inspector and was awarded the exemplary service medal in 1983.
He and Mary enjoyed many summers at Pirate's Cove on the Belleisle. The Toronto Blue Jays played an important part of his summer activities.
Winston faithfully attended Fundamental Baptist Church where many friendships were made and valuable Christian lessons taught.
Winston's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary (Baker), daughter Tammy (late Kevin), son Scott (Michelle), and daughter Lisa (Graeme). Grandchildren Kerrin, Keith, Kendra, Stephen, Ryan, Kyle, Kennedy and ten great grandchildren, who adored their great Papa.
Also survived by brothers Gerald (Jennette), Stephen (Heather) and sister Joan Blair (John) as well as sisters-in-law Helen Martin and Lois Arsenault (Bob), brothers-in-law Hugh McNeill and Bill Mourik. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.
