It is with great sadness that the family of William Robert “Bob” Proctor announces his unexpected passing on Sunday August 10, 2025, at the age of 79.
Born in St. Martins on May 24 1946, he was the son of the late Frank and Jessie (Gillcrist) Proctor. He will be forever missed by his wife of 54 years, Gail (Garnett); his three children, Darin Proctor (Sue), Ian Proctor, and Tammy LeBlanc (Jeff); his nine pride and joy grandchildren, Zachary, Abbie, Kristen, Alli, Kassie, Katelyn, Aiden, Conner, and Chantel. He is survived by his brothers Stephen Proctor (Darlene), John Proctor (Susan), and his favorite sister Daphne Stewart (Bev); as well as brother-in-law Wayne Garnett (Mina) and three sisters-in-laws, Louise Jackson, Betty McMillan and Brenda Fowler (Kevin), along with many nieces and nephews.
Bob started his career at the Dry Dock with Local 213 as a pipefitter, then shifted his career to become a steamfitter/pipefitter instructor at NBCC. There he spent 26 years, many of which he acted as a union rep, and he later retired at the age of 57.
Bob spent countless hours volunteering as a member of the St. Martins Fire & Ambulance Department. In his 27 years of service he had many active rolls from Captain, training officer, EMT and his last role as Deputy Chief. He was also a member of the St. Martins & District Loins Club.
Bob loved woodworking; he created many things cherished by family and friends. These items ranged from canoes, tide clocks, to toy trucks, to name a few!
He spent many days fishing with his friends and family.
Bob played baseball and hockey as a teenager and still enjoyed both sports to this day. He was a true Boston Fan.
Bob and Gail began their love of camping by attending bluegrass festivals, which lead to many summers as seasonals at Lone Pine Campground. Their time there fostered many great memories and friendships which stay strong to this day.
Bob loved spending individual quality time with his grandchildren. This included cooking stews, making heritage fair projects, woodworking, and many other fun projects—which always included the secret stash of rosebud chocolates.
