So sad to hear of Bill's passing. He led me to the Lord when I was a teenager at the Lewis Mountain Baptist Church on October 8th, 1989. Thank you, Mr. Thompson. Until we meet again...

So sorry to hear about your loss but rejoice for Bill who is now in the presence of his and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I remember well first meeting Bill, and you, Patty, at UBBTS, and later when we shared in ministry at Little River, as well as visits to your home. Bill has "hung his earthly tent on an old alder bush and gone home to his Lord," as he frequently said. May the Lord continue to be with you as you seek to adjust to a life apart from Bill for a time, until you, and we, all meet again in the mansions prepared for us in heaven.

To Patty, Herbie & Melissa,
My deepest sympathy to you on the loss of Bill, as a husband and father and minister. I remember our days at UBBTS together. Those were good times. I'll be praying for you and thinking of you in the days ahead.
Sincerely,
Linda

Dear Patty - When I saw Bill's picture and read the news of his death, that smile of his brought a smile to my face as I remembered him, the mighty hunter, the story teller, the pastor and evangelist, and you and your then young children, at a time when we all were much younger, and very busy doing the work of the ministry.

In my years of knowing Bill I don't think I remember a time when he wasn't ready to share a good hunting story (always with lots of laughter), his own personal Christian testimony, or to extend an invitation to a listener to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. What a lovely guy he was, and I feel so honored to have had the opportunity to know you both during those years. Bill was certainly a special guy, whose love of the Lord, and his passion to follow in His ways made a mark on my own life for good and for God.

Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers this week, as you continue your journey with the Lord. Without a shadow of doubt, I know that Bill is in the presence of his Lord and Saviour. - Chris MacDormand

I have known Bill for over forty years. I have shared a platform with him on several occasions and was always impressed by his integrity, devotion and passion for the cause of Christ. I also had the difficult task of following him as the Pastor of Waterloo Street Baptist Church in Saint John. As a result of that experience I know exactly how big his shoes were . It was not easy filling them. I was not his immediate successor, but long after his ministry there he was still respected and admired. So many people had "Bill Thompson Stories" to share and they were always told with a twinkle in the eye, a smile on the lips and a genuine love in the heart. While we were not close friends we had opportunities to minister together from time to time and we were sure we must be relatives and were going to get together to trace the roots and see if it was so. However; that never did happen. But we were brothers in Christ and that is the best relationship of all. To all the family we extend our sympathy and offer our prayers as you adjust to this new reality here and look forward to the reality of reunion in Heaven. God bless you all.

Patricia, Herb, and Melissa. How fondly I remember your and Bills impact on my life. I attended your afterschool program in your home when you pastored in Brown's Flat. Herb and I were in the same grade I believe. I remember fondly the Special Meetings we had in Chipman NB with Bill in the early 90's. Still remember Bills sermons. God by with you through these days. Wish I could be there for the funeral. Our prayers are with you. Wayne and Carol Johnson

On behalf of the Chegoggin Baptist Church family, and my own family our heartfelt condolences go to Patty, may the Lord bring you through this time of deep sorrow.
Bill was one of the true "old salts" he lived like he preached, boldly. Over the years he has always been an encouragement.
Bill gave me the first opportunity to preach in Church. Bill was preaching at our home Church, and I had just come home from my first year of Bible school, after Church I asked Bill if I could preach the sermon next Sunday night, Bill hesitated for a split second, and said, sure son...well to me it was just another Sunday night, I studied all week and had my " great sermon " all ready..." The five W's of witnessing"..alliterated and all!... Well Sunday evening came, ( I had to work Sunday morning) and I arrived at church only to find the place PACKED! With a bunch of visitors...it was Graduation Sunday, and Bill had planned to address the graduates and their families in a special service...I did the only thing I could, swallowed the lump in my throat and preached. After the service Bill told me I did fine and that he was glad I didn't use the service as a recruitment service but preached Christ.
Bill never knew I didn't know it was the graduation service, but true to form he gave a know nothing kid a chance to preach, and selflessly gave up a meeting he had worked hard to organize....I have never forgotten that over the years. I have given a lot of men the chance to preach because of it.
Bills thoughtfulness, selflessness, bold stand on the Word of God, love for people, passion for souls, and the living God has served as a benchmark to Christians throughout our community, country , little churches dotting the landscape and wherever his cowboy boots stepped.
In my little time in service Bill has always served as a blessing and a reminder of the preacher.
God bless, and if you are reading this and you do not know Christ as your Saviour, then let me echo what Bill preached over the years....YE must be born again!
We will continue to be blessed by a life lived well.

Bill Thompson, a man of strong conviction and faith. Quick with a quip to light your day. Though his light be extinguished in this world we know he has returned to the father. Especially at this time of year my mind return to Waterloo and Bill's constant message; Christ was crucified on the cross, spanning the gap between earth's degradation and heaven's glory with his arms out spread to embrace us all. Bill is in that embrace.
My thoughts and prayers are with you Thompson Family.

To Patty, Herbie & Melissa, We were saddened to hear of Bill's passing and want you to know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. We feel the loss of a great warrior for God who was steadfast and true to the Word of God. His greatest pleasure as an evangelist was to share his Savior with others and lead them into the kingdom. His motto was "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God..." He was kindhearted and unselfish to the core - God bless his memory.

My heart aches and yet my tears are both tears of joy and sadness. Patty, Bill never told a story that didn't have you in it. As you know, as does every one else who met Bill knows, you were the love of his life, second only to Jesus who called Bill and lead him by His Holy Spirit. I can't express to you how much Bill meant to me. He was a man of such strength and he helped me several times through difficult situations. Bill, you will be greatly missed, until we meet again. Set a chair for me around your table so you can share more of your wonderful, encouraging stories. Sympathy to the family and excitement as you have now entered the Kindom of our Lord Jesus. See you soon. Love always and into eternity.

'sister' Patty and family: we share your pain of separation from Bill, but rejoice that he is a welcomed child home in His Lord and Savior's presence. I lost my Mom almost 8 weeks ago, and although she was infirmed here, she'll be able to see and talk in her new body one day, and whatever infirmities Bill endured here, his best days are now begun. God bless! The folks here at Upper Blackville United Baptist extend their condolences remembering Bill's "meetings" here over the years.

Patty, Herbie and Melissa,
May God give you great comfort and a sense of His presence as you go through this difficult time.
The first time I met all of you, Herbie was 3 and Melissa was just a year. I stayed with you for three weeks that summer as we conducted DVBS in the Meductic area. Getting to know Bill was an eye-opening experience, and one I have never forgotten. He taught me that I didn't have to pretend to be anything I wasn't, that God accepted me for who I was, because of Christ's perfect sacrifice. It was God's work, not mine!
What a joy and comfort to know that this isn't a final "goodbye", but we will meet again!

I was sorry to hear of this huge loss to Bill's family, and to the Kingdom if God. Bill was a great example to many of us at ABC in the early 70's. He was a dear friend and a great example to many. He has now finished his work and his journey is complete. I am so sorry for this loss to his dear wife and family. I know you will be reunited again but the present grief and loss is a reality and must be felt. God will be your provider.

We have lost a close friend who always had time to listen and offer kind words of wisdom, rest and recovery to Bill always seemed to involve working on the Round Meadows Property he loved to share with all who visited.
The Round Meadow Cove overlooking Seal Rock will always be known as the area Bill Thompson so lovingly cared for and nurtured as a quiet place for the soul to recuperate.
Bill will be greatly missed, our condolences to Patty,Herb and Melissa.

I was 11 years old and had been fighting with my best friend all week. Or, should I say, not talking. I can't remember what the fight was about now. Our family was going to the revival services at our church and one of the nights Bill preached about forgiveness. "But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins." Matthew 6:15... it was the first time it hit home about God's forgiveness and it really bothered me that because I was angry with Amy and wasn't forgiving her that God might not be listening to me either. I sat there in that pew and asked God's forgiveness and to come into my heart and change me. And to help me go to Amy the next day and forgive her. Every time I tell the story of how I became a Christian I think of Bill... and am thankful for that sermon. And I know when he entered Heaven I was one of the many that God thought of when he said to Bill, "well done, good and faithful servant". I know it's hard to lose someone but I hope his family finds great peace when they think of all the incredible work Bill did for God.
