Willard Chatwin Obituary

With heavy hearts, the family of Willard Harold Chatwin announce his unexpected passing on April 17, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital.

Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, on January 21, 1944, Willard was the beloved son of the late James Harold and Beatrice (Hammond) Chatwin.

Willard will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years Joyce (Linden) Chatwin; his children: Will Chatwin Jr. (Jocelyn Bursey), Denna (Blair) McKay, Terri (Andrew) Maloney, and Christa (Michael) Stevens. He is also survived by his sisters, Loretta (Daryl) Madill and Mary Madill.

He will be deeply missed by his cherished grandchildren: Courtney (Eric) Burchill, Nicole Culligan (Kyle Matthews), Michael (Brittany) Stevens, Todd (Garam) Stevens, Drew Maloney, Dawson Chatwin (Kelly Earle), Karlee Chatwin (Riley Quigg), and Sydney Chatwin; as well as his great-grandchildren: Isabella, Anderson, Evelyn, Jaxon, Gracie, Bowen, and Colson. He also held a special place in his heart for his bonus granddaughter, Erin McKay (Glen Porter). Willard will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.

Willard dedicated over 30 years of his career as a salesman with Carquest. He had a passion for hunting and greatly enjoyed time spent trailering at the Micmac Campground with Joyce. A devoted NASCAR fan, Willard rarely missed a race. He also treasured his daily afternoon coffee with Bob and the many evenings spent relaxing and sharing conversation over a glass of Crown Royal with Byron.

Known for his sharp wit and playful sarcasm, Willard had a unique way of offering a compliment with a teasing twist. Following a stroke at the age of 54, he became more outspoken, though always in good spirit and never unkind.

In addition to his parents, Willard was predeceased by his brother Jimmy Chatwin and his brother-in-law Steve Madill.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424). In keeping with Willard’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service at this time.

For those who wish, donations in Willard’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
