Wayne Robert Barrett of East Saint John passed away on Sunday July 13th, 2025, following a period of failing health. Born July 20 of 1955 in Toronto, ON, he was the son of the late Edward and Alice Beulah (Campbell) Barrett. Wayne worked as a custodian for Toronto School Board, when returning to the Maritimes he worked for NBCC, retiring in 2020.
Wayne is survived by his daughter, Brittany Bulmer (Nathan) of Quispamsis; his son, Mark Barrett (Rebecca) of Saint John; grandchildren, Averie Bulmer, Alaina Bulmer and Michael Barrett; great-granddaughter Lola Maye; brothers Ed Barrett (Donna), Phillip Barrett (Joyce) and David Barrett (Martyne); his only sister, Sharon Barrett; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Along with his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his brother Michael and his canine companion Ringo.
Wayne was a Tech guy and always had the newest gadget. He was excellent and talented in multimedia and videography. You would always find him listening to Elvis and referring to himself as "Batman, in the Batmobile", his beloved Mustang.
Wayne was considered to be the life of the party, always making people laugh. He was a Mustang enthusiast, but he was most proud to be called "Pops" and "Papa Wayne" by his grandchildren. Those who knew and loved him, will miss him forever.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424) . By Wayne’s request cremation will take place. A Celebration of his Life will be held at Mission Point Church, 130 Mark Drive, Saint John, NB, on Saturday July 26, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Following the celebration, Wayne’s ashes will return to PEI, a place that was near and dear to his heart.
