With hearts full of love and sorrow, we share that Wayne Banks has passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at the age of 76 years old. Born in Saint John, he was the son of the late Clifford and Mary (Nee. Urquhart) Banks.
He is survived by the love of his life, Madelaine Taylor; daughters, Cindy Hannah, Tanya (Lance), Pennie (Bill), and Jennie (Jason); step-daughters Victoria (Dan) and Sarah; grandchildren Emma-Lynn, George, Ryan, Jocelyn, Kasey, Kinsley, Abby, Jacob, Josie, Brenden and Robyn; Brother Paul (Wilma); Sister Heather (Jim); Aunt Alice Urquhart; as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and many close friends.
A man whose compassion and generous heart left a lasting impression, he deeply loved, cared fiercely and put his family above everything else. Nothing brought him greater joy than his grandchildren; they were his pride, happiness and greatest blessing.
Wayne loved sports and carried a competitive spirit that never truly faded. Proudly cheering for the Toronto Blue Jays and the Montreal Canadiens, his passion for hockey began early on when he started playing for the Saint John Schooners. He also enjoyed horse racing, a pastime that brought him much enjoyment over the years.
Above all, Wayne lived a life guided by his Christian faith. It shaped the way he loved, forgave and gave to others. His legacy is one of compassion, devotion and unwavering love. Though our hearts are broken, we are forever grateful for the time we had with him and the love he gave so freely.
Besides his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his son-in-law George Hannah; aunt Margaret; uncles Malcolm, Raynold, Stewart and Ralph.
Wayne would have loved seeing the room filled with jerseys; guests are welcome to attend the visitation and funeral service wearing one in his memory.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB E2J 2G3; (506)646-2424.
