Wanda Letson Obituary

**Updated Celebration of Life Information**

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wanda Arlene Letson on July 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Wanda was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, on June 12th, 1949, to the late George & Etta (Mitchell) Hickey.

At the age of 14, Wanda met her future husband and lifelong partner, Richard. Together they shared an incredible 55 years of marriage, and adored their two children, Brenda and Melissa. Wanda was the apple of Richard’s eye; he lived to make her smile. Wanda and Richard spent many years camping and travelling together, which brought them great happiness. Wanda spent many years working at Deluxe French Fries before moving on to her loved job as the “Cafeteria Lady” at Forest Hills Elementary School; she loved all the children she served.

Wanda enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at her kitchen table drinking coffee, sharing laughs with all who dropped in. Wanda loved tole painting with her girlfriends, she was a talented artist. She loved making her famous “scotch cookies” and “Nan’s Roni” for all of her kids, all the while listening to her favorite country music on her purple MP3 player.

In her later years, Wanda lovingly cared for her three grandchildren, Emma (Tyler), Carter, and Hannah. She adored and spoiled all of them; they were her pride and joy. Her first and only great-grandchild, Lillian, held a special place in her heart. Lillian loved going on wheelchair rides with her “GG” throughout Embassy Hall.

Wanda was a passionate, generous, quick-witted woman, and a beloved matriarch to our family.

Wanda is survived by her loving husband, Richard; daughters, Brenda (Keith) Nason and Melissa (Allan) Totten; adored grandchildren, Emma (Tyler) Williams, Carter Nason and Hannah Totten; her first great grandchild, Lillian; as well as her brothers, Raymond (Ann-Marie) Hickey and Paul (Ann) Hickey; and her sister, Brenda (Peter) Ernst; her sister in law, Mary Lou Booker, as well as several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased her sisters, Lorraine (Garnet) Smith and Mary Mazerolle, by her brother, Daryl (Sue) Hickey, her brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Lynne Letson, and in laws, Arlie and Grace Letson.

Wanda's family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the amazing staff at Bobby's Hospice, who cared for Wanda with great compassion throughout her final days. Additionally, we are eternally grateful for the care provided by Wanda’s beloved niece Jackie, while at Bobby’s Hospice. We also want to thank the nursing team at Embassy Hall, who helped care for Mom. Mom gave them a run for their money, and they took it all in stride!

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424). A Celebration of Life for Wanda will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at her daughter Brenda's house, 14 Aries Court, Rothesay, NB.
