It is with heavy hearts that the family of Wanda Alberta Black (Nee. Allaby) announces her passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday June 15, 2026. Born in Saint John on April 3rd, 1944, she was the beloved daughter of Percy and Cora (Nee. Tayes) Allaby.
Wanda devoted 32 years to a career in education, inspiring and guiding generations of students. She taught at several schools throughout her career but spent the majority of her years at St. Martins School, where she became a beloved teacher and valued member of the school community. Her dedication, compassion, and commitment to her students left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A passionate Toronto Blue Jays fan, Wanda rarely missed a game and proudly cheered on her beloved team for many years. She eagerly followed each season, always hopeful and optimistic, and found joy in each pitch, hit and home run. Her love for the game was matched only by the love for her grandchildren. She delighted in sharing stories about them and celebrating their accomplishments. They were her pride and joy, and her unwavering love and support will remain with them always.
She leaves behind her son Mike (Shawna); daughters Cindy and Maggie (Al); brothers William (Karin), Gordon (Lynne), and Glendon (Wanda); brother-in-law Earle Black (Paulette);grandchildren Madalyn (Matt), Gabby, Karson (Vangie), Robert and Stephanie (Brad); great grandchildren Brody, Rylan, Brittney and Sheldon; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, Wanda was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Donnie, her brother Curtis Allaby, sister Rowena Cripps, sisters-in-law Elinor Allaby and Karen Bamford, brothers-in-law Stan Cripps and Ralph Black, and great nephew Ethan Allaby.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd, Saint John, NB, E2J 2G3; (506) 646-2424. Visitation will take place on Monday, June 22 from 6pm-8pm and on Tuesday, June 23rd, from 2pm -8pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 24, at 11am in the Fundy Chapel followed by a burial at the Mosher Hill Cemetery in St. Martins. In memory of Wanda, donations can be made to St. Peter’s Anglican Cemetery in Upham or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
