Walter Shonaman, 68, of Saint John, New Brunswick, passed away peacefully at Loch Lomond Village. Born on December 10, 1956, in Saint John, Walter spent his life surrounded by family, friends, good food, and great music.
A talented chef by trade, Walter poured his heart into his cooking and took pride in sharing his love of food with others. His kitchen was always filled with the aroma of his favorite dishes and the sound of classic rock and roll — two of his greatest passions.
Walter was a devoted father to Aaron (Hannah) of Saint John, Brittnee (Scott) of Saint John, and Joey (Tracey) of Saint John, and Wally Junior of Ontario. He was a loving stepfather to Tony. Walter was also a proud grandfather to Delilah, Kaiser, Creed, Ayva, Jurnee, and Lily - all of whom brought him endless joy and laughter. He will be missed by his siblings Jimmy (Angie) Shonaman of Sussex, and Marie (James) Cameron of Saint John.
Known for his kind heart, sense of humor, and love of dogs, Walter had a way of making everyone around him feel welcome. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Predeceased by his beautiful granddaughter Brinley Marie, as well as siblings Marilynn, Melville, and Ronnie.
Arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home. Visitation will take place on Monday, November 3, 2025, from 2PM - 4PM, followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 4PM. Donations in memory of Walter can be made to the IWK Brain Tumor Clinic or a charity of the donor's choice.
