Walter Page Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Walter F. Page, loving husband of Cynthia (Landry) Page, announce his passing which occurred at Rocmaura Nursing Home on February 15, 2022.  Born on the family farm in Saint Andre, NB, September 8, 1932, he was the son of the late Paul and Addie (Dube) Page, the youngest of his 12 siblings.

He was so proud of his daughters; Lori Keith (Jeff) and Kimberly Melanson, his granddaughters; Katie Delaney (Steve) and Erin Melanson, and he doted on his great-granddaughters; Olivia, Abby, Lilah, and Ellie.  He also leaves behind several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Besides his parents, Paul and Addie, he was predeceased by his son-in-law Ernest Melanson, and his 12 brothers and sisters.

Walter will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul.  Quiet by nature, He was loved and respected by all who knew him.  Young Walter graduated from university in 1953 and while working in Fredericton he met the love of his life, Cynthia, whom he married in 1959.

His career spanned many years with the Audit and Finance, J D Irving, and then the Department of Finance, Province of New Brunswick. He made many friends, too numerous to mention, over his working years.

He was a lifelong member and volunteer at St Rose Church and could often be found enjoying fellowship with his friends at the Knights of Columbus, 6770.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his good friends, Father Raymond Riley, Father George Riley, John, Roland, and his nephew Mario.  A die-hard baseball and hockey fan, he never gave up on his Montreal Canadians.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to his friends and the Garden Court Staff of Rocmaura for all the care and compassion given to Walter during his stay.

His legacy would be to always be kind to others, to be quick to forgive and to respect everyone and love your Heavenly Father and your family with all your heart.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424). In keeping with his family's wishes, no visitation will take place.  Mass of Christian burial will be held at Holy Spirit Parish (St. Rose Church) on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at 12:00 Noon. In lieu of flowers, donations to Rocmaura Nursing Home or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
