Walter Ernest Dean

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Walter Ernest Dean, which occurred on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB, on May 26, 1929, he was a son of the late Arthur and Mabel (Currie) Dean.

Walter worked for Willett Foods as a night supervisor for 9 years, he was an accountant for the R.C.A.F. for 3 years, and a route manager for Pepsi Cola for 18 years before his retirement. He was also President of the NB Ball Hockey Association for 10 years.

Walter is survived by his loving wife, Marie Jones; children Arthur (Debbie), Christopher, and Candice (Mike) Dean, and Pamela Allen (William); stepdaughter Shelley Jones; brother Wilfred Dean (Betty); as well as 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife Elizabeth (Hunter); son Lawrence Dean; brother Rev. David Dean; and grandson Dougie Allen.

Arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (646-2424). A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 15, 2023, in Seaview Cemetery at 2:00 PM. Donations in Walter’s memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
