Vivian Joyce Scott Obituary

Our mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on January 16th with her loving family by her side on the Gem Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born in Summerhill, NB October of 1940 she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Annie (Clarke) Scott. Her strong faith in God never swayed as she struggled after her stroke in mid November of 2021.

Vivian is survived by her children Cyndi Train (Victor), Andrew Kupkee (Denise) and Christine Kupkee (Sandy); grandchildren Stephen Train (Jillian) and Evan Kupkee; great-grandchildren Addison and Cameron; extended family Holly, Dana and Michael; sisters Lillian Williams (Richard) and Jean Nickerson (Gerald); former husband and father of the children Gerald Kupkee; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her infant brother, infant daughter Lori Ann, niece Alexis Williams and precious grandson Jason Train who she looked forward to seeing again.

Loving mother and devoted grandmother and great grandmother, Vivian felt blessed to spend time with her grandchildren and she spoke often about how she was able to live long enough to be able to enjoy her great-grandchildren as well.

Vivian was a caregiver and was devoted to caring for others which included many children over the years. She also cared for the elderly through home care.

A dedicated volunteer for many years Vivian was devoted to service to others and organizations in the Saint John and uptown areas. She had the most kind and gentle soul. With her own Street Ministry, she was able to help so many people and saw people through Christ’s eyes and believed everyone deserved to be helped and treated people with love and respect.

Vivian special talents were her love of baking and her beautiful poetry which she had received awards for. So many of her family and friends were blessed to receive her books that she lovingly made. As a talented poet her words brought comfort and peace to so many.

“We will miss you Mom but we find peace knowing you are finally home”

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424).

As per Vivian’s request, she never liked to be the center of attention, there will be no visitation or service. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Donations in her memory can be made to Mental Health or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Wilson and the Nurses and Staff of the Gem Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital. They treated our Mom with so much love and cared for her like she was their own. For the time she was there they became our family.
