It is with sadness and appreciation for a life well lived that the family of Verne Sidney Butler wish to announce his passing which occurred on November 30, 2020 at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born on December 8, 1933, at Newcastle Creek, he was the son of the late James Ernest and Orion (Camp) Butler.
Verne was very proud of the time he worked at Rocmaura Nursing Home. He was always willing to help wherever needed. Over the years he volunteered with Harbour Station, Meals On Wheels and Festival By The Sea.
Verne was the last surviving of his Butler Family bloodline. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister G. Evelyn and brother-in-law Murray Ewart.
He is survived by his nieces; Monica Thompson and Beth (Murray) Cullen, grand nephews; Chris (Shelby), Johnny (Aimee), David (Danielle) and Stephen (Alyssa), his very good friend Allan MacDonald, along with several great-grand nieces and nephews.
Although there will be no visitation, a graveside service will be held at the Newcastle Creek United Baptist Church Cemetery, at 2:00pm on Thursday, December 3, 2020, for invited guests. For those who wish, remembrances to the United Baptist Church, Newcastle Creek or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424).
