Surrounded by the love of his family, Valmond Joseph McGraw passed away peacefully, with grace and dignity, on Monday, December 1, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Tracadie, NB, on November 29, 1948, he was the son of the late Clement and Marie (Sonier) McGraw.
Guy shared 50 beautiful years with his first wife, Alice McGraw, until her passing in 2019. He was deeply blessed to find love again with his wife, Elaine Danahy. Together, they found happiness and companionship, and she brought light back into his life.
A master of carpentry and construction, Guy built more than homes—he built lasting friendships, memories, and a legacy of kindness. His home was always open to all, and his heart was bigger than anyone could imagine. Whether he was offering a helping hand, hosting an impromptu card game with his memorable sayings, “Deuces never lose” and “The casino is open” or simply sharing a laugh, Guy’s warmth was felt by everyone who knew him. His life was one of generosity, laughter, and a love for the simple joys that made it extraordinary.
He loved adventure in the everyday: long drives into the countryside, exploring back roads that often turned into unexpected detours, and getting a little lost along the way. Music, dancing, playing guitar, and singing filled his life with joy, and he had a way of turning ordinary moments into cherished memories.
Guy will be profoundly missed by his wife, Elaine; his daughter, Tanya (David) Taylor; and his grandchildren, Cordilia and Alexander. He is also survived by his son, Frank (Tina)McGraw; his grandchildren Jessica (Shawn) and Mariah; and his great-grandchildren, Lexxi and Brayden. He will be greatly missed as well by his sisters Laetitia “Lete” Robichaud, Florida Paré, Angeline “Jean” Malley, Laura (Paul) McGrath, and Marie “Ovilda” Belleveau; his brother Ernest (Mabel) McGraw; sisters-in-law May McGraw and Yvonne (Donnie) McGraw; his godson Rocky Paré; his goddaughter Ashley Dennis; and his lifelong best friend, Tim Booker, whom he cherished like a brother, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Alice; sisters Leontine “Lee” (George) McGrath, Melina (Albine) Basque, and Leda (Lubin) Langteigne; brothers Frank (Norma) McGraw, Raymond McGraw, and Arthur McGraw; and brothers-in-law Laurier Robichaud, Telesphore Paré, Adelard Malley, Louis Belleveau, and Anthony Watson.
Guy will be remembered for his immense heart, quick smile, hearty laughter, and zest for life. He had a rare gift for making people feel welcome, loved, and uplifted. His adventurous spirit, playful humor, and unwavering generosity leave an enduring mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
