Thomas "Tom" Tomkos

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas Tomkos on January 11, 2024 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born in Glasgow Scotland on August 12, 1945 to the late Anna Tomkos (Kalenowszkis) and Thomas Tomkos (senior). Tom is survived by his loving wife Ruth Tomkos (Pickett), daughters Pamela Peiser (Tomkos), and Sandra Tomkos (Keith Bannan), as well two grandchildren Emily Lunnie and Tristen Lunnie (Brittany, and great grandchild Carter) several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Tom and his mother came to Canada when he was a child and resided in Dartmouth NS. Eventually Tom moved to Saint John NB where he met his wife of 54 years Ruth Tomkos (Pickett). They resided in Saint John and brought up their family at their family home on Highland road.

Tom had many careers throughout his life and was a jack of all trades. Tom could fix and build just about anything. Tom had a passion for wood working were he would spend hours in his wood shop at the family home. Tom worked for several Saint John companies such as, Martin-Senour, Paint Supplies, Sears, Calps, Kent Building Supplies and McDonalds. Tom enjoyed customer service, meeting new people, and always did his job with pride and perfection. Tom also had a love of cooking and would feed family, friends and neighbours. He would also do anything he could to help people that needed a hand.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff at the SJRH, Paramedics and Integrity Healthcare. The kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. We will miss you Dad, Pop, Grampy and Tom Tom.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (506-646-2424) where a celebration of life will take place on Saturday January 20, 2024 at 11am with a reception to follow.  His family request donations be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, or donor of their choice.
