It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas Trevor Murphy at the Saint John Regional Hospital on December 23, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Pine River, PQ, on January 5, 1937, to the late George and Hazel (McKinley) Murphy and was part of a very large family with four boys and 6 girls.
Tom was a very smart man, who growing up skipped two grades due to his intelligence. He graduated and then went to work for the Paper Mill in Baie Comeau and then in 1971 he oved to Saint John to work at the Irving Paper Mill where he devoted 32 years of his life. He was a well-respected employee who made many friends with his colleagues there. He was very much an outdoorsman and would make his own flies for fly fishing. He was a prankster and a joker and his children got the brunt of his jokes, but they loved him for it. He was a devoted father and his children never went without growing up, they were always cared for. He instilled the love of family in his own children due to his upbringing. He liked to have people around. Liked playing cards and watch his favorite sports teams play. He was just an all around good guy who will be deeply missed.
Tom is survived by his son, Sean; his daughters, Wanna, Trina and Rhea; his 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Lena (Tom) and Lois; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Gerard, Kevin and Douglas; and his sisters, Elaine, Marjorie, Joan, and Audrey.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424). In keeping with Tom’s wishes, cremation will take place. Services will be held at a later date, so please review this page in the future for updated information. For those who wish, memorial donations to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by his family.
