Susan Violet McCracken

The family of Susan 'Violet' McCracken, wife of the late James Thomas McCracken, wish to announce her passing which occurred on June 18, 2021 at the St. John & St. Stephen Church Home.  Born in Saint John on February 11, 1928, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Mary Mae (Cook) Golden.

She had worked for several years with Brook Bond Company.  She was a member of the Jarvis Bay Memorial RCL #53 and was involved with several Senior Citizens actives throughout her life.

She is survived by her sons; James Thomas Jr, Paul Joseph (Bonnie), David Wayne (Margaret), her daughter; Susan Marie McCracken, along with her 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family have been predeceased by her brothers; William H. Golden Jr, Harry James Golden, James Donald Golden and Paul Lawrence Golden, and her sisters; Dorothy Mae Lynch, Mary Agnes Nelsen, Theresa Helen Smith and Elizabeth Irene Flowers.

The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude for the care Violet received at both St. Joseph’s Hospital and the St. John & St. Stephen Church Home.

Visitation hours will be held at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) on Thursday, June 24, 2021, between the hours of 11-2 pm at which time the Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated from the Fundy Chapel.  Interment will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery.  Remembrances made to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
