Susan Pauline (Johnston) Hachey

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Susan Pauline Hachey on Monday, September 12, 2022, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, N.B. on May 10, 1956, Susan was the daughter of the late William and Viola Johnston.

Susan was the loving and caring wife to David Hachey and the loving mother to her pride and joy Christine (Jean Guy) Lemay as well as her two grandchildren Annabelle and Jean-Michel Lemay.

She is also survived by her siblings William (Darlene) Johnston, Mary Craig, Doreen (Emile) Bordage, Christine (Michael) O’Keefe, and Barbara (Paul) Colwell as well as several nieces and nephews.

Susan also inherited five adult stepchildren; Joe Hachey, Randy (Mona) Hachey, Jamie (Tracy) Hachey, Jason Green, and Tracy (Joe) Brackett and four step-grandchildren.

Susan spent her summers at T.N.T Campground for over 36 years. She enjoyed playing golf, washer toss, and the company and friends of great people in the park. Susan’s career was in early childhood education at the Saint John YMCA, where she became the Director of Childcare after working one year with each age group. Susan remained the director for 18 years before moving to the after-school age children for three years leading up to her retirement.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (646-2424). In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022, in the Fundy Funeral Home Reception Centre from 11:00 – 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Susan’s memory may be made to the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign.
