It is with great sadness that the family of Susan Campbell (nee Devine) announce that our wife and mother passed away on November 19th at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Sue had endured a long and courageous struggle and after many months in hospital was planning to return to her home until her condition turned for the worse.
Susan is survived by her husband of 28 years, Larry Campbell, and much loved daughter Trina (Jeff Delaney), sisters Patricia Catsoulias, Maureen Smith (David) and brothers Stan Devine (Pam) and Terry Devine (Monika). She was pre-deceased by her father Stan Devine and mother Nora Devine (nee Stevens). She will be greatly missed by her Father-in-law Earl Campbell and the entire extended Campbell family as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Prior to her recent retirement, Sue worked for Horizon Health Authority for 32 years of dedicated service in various capacities. She was keenly interested in crafts, a love she shared with her daughter. A great traveller, Sue thought all of life was an adventure and the thrill of a trip shone in her face. It did not matter if the destination was Florida, Ontario or a trip with Larry to the West Side for an ice cream. All that was necessary was to get in the car and drive. Let the adventure and the smiles begin. And they always did, particularly on their frequent and spontaneous weekend trips to Halifax. Her zest for life was infectious. Whether with friends, work colleagues or someone she had just met Sue was always ready with a joke, a smile, a twinkle in her eye and laughter to share.
Sue wishes to be remembered as she was and as such has requested that there be no visitation or formal funeral service. A private interment will be held at a later date.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to a charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank the staff of the QE2 Transplant Unit in Halifax and the Saint John Regional Hospital for their care and consideration.
