Susan Barsalou

It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Mary “Susan” (Finnigan) Barsalou which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, November 8th, 2021.  Born 1950, in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Mary Finnigan.  In her earlier years, Susan worked for Social Services as a Secretary.  When her children were born, Susan became a stay at home mother, raising her two boys who were her pride and joy.  She loved cats and had many throughout her lifetime, most recent is her cat Murray.  Susan cherished her time spent with family and friends, especially her grandchildren whom she adored.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. 

Susan is survived by her loving and devoted husband Michael of 48 years; sons Stephen Barsalou of Saint John, Brian MacLean (Patience) of Saint John; brother Jim Finnigan of Saint John; sisters Faith Murphy (Leonard) of Saint John, Connie Barsalou (Pat) of Saint John; grandchildren Lylla, Lexi, Italy, Lincoln, Jersey, Katie, Aurora, Carter; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424).  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Stella Maris Catholic Church (201 Bayside Drive) on Monday, November 15th at 12 noon.  Due to COVID-19 health measures placed on indoor gatherings, all those attending the service will be required to wear masks and show proof of vaccination with a piece of government issued ID.  A private family interment will take place at a later date.  Donations in memory of Susan may be made to The Arthritis Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
