Stephen "Sniffer" Wallace Obituary

With heavy hearts, the family of Stephen Edmund Wallace announces his passing on June 4, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by his family.

Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, on February 9, 1962, Stephen was the beloved son of Margaret (Badeau) Wallace and the late Joseph Wallace.

Stephen will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Joscelyne Perry, Justine Wallace, his mother Margaret, sister Adele Wallace (Brian Stephenson) and brother Andrew (Kim) Wallace, his beloved grand children Lennon, Aulden and Vauhn, his son-in-law Josh Perry, the mother of his children Louise Dodge Hall; and his companion and best friend, his dog Donnie. He will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Stephen lived a life marked by faith, hard work, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to helping others. As a young boy, he delivered 104 newspapers on his paper route. At just 11 years old he purchased his first motorcycle, beginning a lifelong passion that would remain with him for the next 52 years. Stephen attended Milford School and Saint Rose School before graduating from Saint John High School. He proudly served as an altar boy at St. Rose Church five days a week and carried those values of compassion and service throughout his life.

A devoted hockey fan and lifelong admirer of Bobby Orr and his iconic #4, Steve played Lancaster Minor Hockey as a child and continued in the Lancaster Centennial Hockey League until the age of 26. In recent years he loved watching his grandchildren play hockey in the same rinks where he started.

Stephen dedicated 28 years of service to Moosehead Breweries Ltd., where he worked his way from the production floor to production crew leader. During his career, he received numerous awards recognizing his commitment to continuous improvement and excellence. He also served as vice president of Union Local 362 for 10 years. Among his proudest accomplishments at Moosehead were his several years working in the Alpine Room, where he had the privilege of serving P.W. Oland.

He was known for his entrepreneurial spirits in early days where he was the proud owner of Crazy 8’s Sports Cards in the Lancaster Mall and Sniffer’s Pub on Thorne Ave. Following his years at Moosehead, he continued his entrepreneurial ambitions, owning and operating shuttle buses and taxis while providing tours for cruise ship passengers visiting Saint John.

Stephen then became employed with the Government Department of Transportation & Infrastructure, entering his 8th season this year.

Stephen was deeply committed to his community. For more than 35 years, he organized countless charity poker runs and fundraising initiatives. He proudly supported Special Olympics, Autism programs, Joshua Group, YMCA, and numerous charitable causes and even donated his hair to cancer patients.

Motorcycling was far more than a hobby—it was a lifelong passion. As a proud member of the Bacchus Motorcycle Club for 20 years, Steve formed countless friendships and became part of a brotherhood that he valued immensely. The friendships he built through the motorcycle community became an extension of his family, and the respect, camaraderie, and support shared among fellow riders were great blessings in his life.

He also took great pride in his Kingston home, known as "Da Wallace Ranch."

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Christian Mackin, Dr Oriano Andreani and the nurses of the Palliative Care Unit 3BN at the Saint John Regional Hospital for their care and compassion as well as his friend Justin Johnston for his exceptional care over the last few weeks.

Aside from his father, Stephen was predeceased by best friend Peter “P-nut” Reid.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424). The family will hold a celebration of life in the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on September 14, 2026, at 2 pm, followed by a reception in the reception hall.

For those who wish, donations in Stephen’s memory may be made to Independence Plus Inc., where his daughter Justine resides.

To continue with Stephen’s wish, there is a bike run scheduled for July 4th, 2026, commencing at AJ’s lounge at 9:30am. We encourage everyone, even those without bikes, to join in the celebration to remember Sniffer.

“Steve from Canada, out," your ride continues.
