Shirley May Wright

It is with a broken heart, but appreciation for a long life well lived, the family of Shirley May Wright, beloved wife of the late Frank Wright, announces her passing on September 2, 2025. Born in Saint John, NB, on March 22, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Scott and Jenny (Blade) Thomas.

Shirley and Frank first crossed paths in 1950 and officially tied the knot in 1957. The two shared a good life together until Frank’s passing in 2010. Shirley was her husband’s biggest supporter, whether it was at home, in the garden, or cheering him on at the racetrack while he raced stock cars.

Shirley had a big heart and a soft spot for her poodles—three in total over the years, each spoiled in their own way. She loved gardening, especially her bush garden that she and Frank tended for many years, and her home was always spotless (her boys can confirm she never let a speck of dust survive for long). In her younger years, she loved to go dancing and spent many fun evenings with the Fairville Outing Association. Her character and spirit will be missed by all who knew her.

Shirley is survived by her three sons: Frank Wright Jr. (Diane), Brian “Beaver” Wright (Judy), and Jamie Wright; grandchildren: Terry, Billy Jo, Kyle, and Kristy; as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Shirley was predeceased by her grand-daughter Shyla, great-grandson Jacob, brothers: William, George, and John; and sisters: Mary, Viola, and Phyllis.

Arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd., Saint John, NB. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Upper Golden Grove Rd., at a date to be announced. Donations in memory of Shirley can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
