The children of Shirley Gallant, loving wife of the late Jack Gallant, inform you of her passing, which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, February 23rd, 2026, after a brief illness. She was the loving daughter of our special grandmother, the late Marjorie Mullin.
Mom was very mild-mannered and easy-going, never one to speak ill of anyone or anything. She was well-known for her meat pies at Christmas, a family tradition that everyone looked forward to each year, and she had a lifelong love of Elvis, whose music was often playing in the background. She spent nearly six decades living in Anthony’s Cove, where she and Dad enjoyed gardening and the most beautiful sunsets over the bay and were blessed with amazing neighbours—people she could rely on during the past 14 years on her own.
Shirley is survived by her children: Jacqueline Donovan (Michael), Brad Gallant, Steven Gallant (Tina), and Chris Gallant (Andrea). She is also survived by her sister, LeeAnn “Lannie” Kessler, aunt Shirl Wilson, and her half-brother, Robert “Bob” Barham (Nancy). Shirley will always be remembered by her four grandchildren, Christopher, Keith (Karen), Candice (Matt), and Shawn (Geena), as well as her seven great-grandchildren: Brayden, Baileigh, Kingston, Jack, Liam, Emma, and Ryan.
In addition to our father and grandmother, Mom was predeceased by her siblings, Joe, Faye, and David.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424). Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 26th, from 2:00–8:00 PM. A celebration of Shirley’s life will take place on Friday, February 27th, at 10:00 AM from the Fundy Chapel.
