Sheldon G. Lomax

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Sheldon Gene Lomax which occurred at Bobby’s Hospice on Wednesday, September 7th, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.  Born 1955, in Blacks Harbour, NB, he is the son of the late Cecil and Christine (Shepherd) Lomax.  Sheldon was Supervisor of the Frigate Program, CFM and Irving Paper for many years.  He was a volunteer Fire Fighter for 17 years.  Sheldon enjoyed clam digging, construction work, carpentry and boating.  He especially loved golfing with his son-in-law and grandson.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Sheldon is survived by his loving and devoted wife Trudy of 46 years; daughter Melissa Whittier (Rev. Fred) of Saint John; siblings Paul Lomax (Thelma) of Lepreau, Juanita Lomax of Fredericton, Cyril Lomax (Kim) of Lepreau, Laverne Mitchell of Lepreau; grandchildren Caleb and Meagan; mother-in-law Rita McVicar; sisters-in-law Lisa Scovil (David), Lorraine McVicar, Maxine MacVicar, Cheryl Spear (Edward); special friend Barb Hewey; canine companions through the years Brownie, Shadow, Daisy, Duke and Gracie; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.  Along with his parents, Sheldon was predeceased by his sister Geraldine Janes and father-in-law Ralph McVicar. 

A special thank you to Dr. William O’Brien for your kindness and compassion given to both Sheldon and Trudy.  Thank you to Dr. Chris O’Brien, Kelly Badger and the nurses and staff of Bobby’s Hospice as well as Dr. Michaels from Oncology.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424).  A Memorial Service will take place at Saint John First Wesleyan Church, (399 Boars Head Road) on Sunday, September 18th at 3 p.m. Interment will be held at a later date.  Donations in memory of Sheldon may be made to Bobby’s Hospice, IWK or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
