Sheila Lester Obituary

Our family is grieved to announce the death of Sheila E. Lester on Sunday, July 25th, 2021 at the Loch Lomond Villa. Sheila was born in Moncton, NB in 1946, the first child of Merville A. Lester and Verna A. (Whalen) Lester.  The family moved to Saint John early in her life.  She graduated from Vocational School and the Saint John Institute of Technology (RNA).  Always having a great respect for the medical field, she was saddened to be unable to follow her career after being diagnosed with Schizophrenia.

Through many years, doctors and treatments, she battled onward and appreciated the support of family, friends and medical staff alike.

Besides the Dragon of mental Illness, she also became a survivor of Breast Cancer.  Many thanks are extended to the wonderful care workers she met along the way.  You filled her heart!  Special thanks to John and Dolores Robertson for the many occasions of help they provided.

Throughout her life she always maintained a close interest in the activities of her family and close friends.  She wished them well and always wanted to let them know she was thinking of them.  Happy times included trips to Quebec, NS, NL and PEI as well as enjoying her home province and participating in “Skate to Care” for many years.

Her final years were spent in the caring home of Loch Lomond Villa where she was supported, encouraged and cheered by the dedicated staff.

Sheila is survived by her sister Barbara A. Sanders (Eddie J.) of Lower Sackville, NS; nephews Aubrey J. Sanders (Jill), Michael E. Sanders (Natalie), Timothy A. Sanders (Aleen); niece Sylvia J. Carbonell O’Farrell (Jorge) as well as great-nephews and nieces Luke, Ayrton, Javier, Kathryn, Bailey and Lucia and many cousins.  Along with her parents, Sheila was predeceased by her infant sister Denise.

We travelled the road of life together and will miss her.  May she rest free from illness, struggle and misunderstanding.
