It is with sadness but a sense of peace that we announce the passing of Sharon Leigh Patricia (Ross) Grass on November 17, 2023, at the Loch Lomond Villa with her loving family by her side. She was born in Sussex, NB, on December 21, 1947, to the late Melbourne and Jean Margaret (McConnell) Ross.
Sharon worked for many years in Homecare with the VON, which was a great job for a person of her nature and love for seniors. She was easygoing and fun loving, and you would always find her laughing about something. She moved from Sussex when she was 16 to Saint John but frequently went via train to visit her parents and siblings in Sussex and continued to do so when her own children were born. Love wasn’t an easy emotion to verbalize for many of the baby boomers, however her actions spoke volumes about the love she had for the people she held close to her heart. She spent many days and evenings downstairs in the common area of the Villa playing cards with her neighbors and challenging the men of the crowd to a friendly game of pool. In her earlier years she bowled in a league and was quite good at it. Sharon absolutely loved a good drink of Whiskey – Crown Royal to be specific. When her grandkids came along, she was always there to babysit them as babies or be their taxi cab driver when they became teenagers. Very involved and you could ask her anything. She was a wonderful woman who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children, Wendy Phillips and Jason (Sandra) Grass; her 6 adored grandchildren, Jeffrey, Rebecca, Kristopher, Madison, Emily and Blaire; her beloved great grandchildren, Avery, Carter, Deacon and Lily; also the great grandchildren that she never had an opportunity to meet; Javan, Jasmina, Elijah and Remi. Her brother Harold and her sister Donna (Mike Wisted) Ross, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Ronald and David, and her sister Debbie Irving.
Sharon’s family would like to take this time to thank Elm House at Loch Lomond Villa for all the care, compassion and kindness shown to both Sharon and her family during her stay there.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424). In keeping with Sharon’s wishes, no visitation or funeral services will be held. A graveside service will take place on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at 1pm at Ward’s Creek Catholic Cemetery in Sussex. For those who wish, memorial donations in her memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by her family.
