Shannon Mary Dewar Gilker

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Shannon Mary Dewar Gilker, on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on October 5, 1986, she was the daughter of James Malcolm “Mack” Gilker and the late Rhoda (nee Cody) Gilker.

Besides her father she is survived by her Stepmother Judy (nee McKillop) Gilker; stepbrother Craig (Tanya) McKillop; stepsister Karen McKillop; paternal Aunt Christine (David) McKay; dear friend and mentor Diane O'Connor; as well as several nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her beloved and constant companion, her cat Poppy. 

Besides her mother, Shannon was predeceased by her paternal grandparents James Malcolm Gilker Sr. and Mary (nee. Daly) Gilker; and her maternal grandparents William Cody and Geraldine Likely. 

Shannon was a very determined woman and strong in her mindset. No matter the situation she was always true to herself. Her greatest joy were her cats and nothing came before them.

In respecting Shannon’s wishes cremation has taken place with private family services to follow.
