Sandra O'Hara Obituary

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Sandra O’Hara, who left us surrounded by love and cherished memories. Born in Saint John, NB she carried with her the quiet strength and warmth of the place she called home. She found joy in the simple, meaningful moments- long walks on the beach, nature walks shared with friends and family, and the peace that came from being surrounded by those she loved.

She was rarely without a good book in her hands, reading was more than a past time for her, it was a window to the world, a source of comfort, curiosity, and life long learning. Through books, she explored countless lives and stories, all while creating a beautiful one of her own.

Music and movement brought her great happiness. She and Gerry could often be found cutting a rug around the island, again and again- dancing not just with their feet, but with their hearts. Those moments reflected her spirit: joyful, vibrant, and full of life.

Above all else, she was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife, a caring mother, a proud grandmother, and a cherished great-grandmother. Her love reached across generations, leaving an
imprint that will continue to be felt for years to come. She taught by example- how to love deeply, how to live fully, and how to find beauty in everyday
moments. Though she may no longer walk beside us, her presence remains- in the pages of a good book, in the sound of music that invites us to dance, in the calm of a shoreline walk, and in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

She lived a full and beautiful life, and she will be deeply missed- but never forgotten. Sandra is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, Gerry O’Hara. She will be deeply missed by her children:
Mike Merrick (Susan), Tim Merrick (Hilda), Pam Steeves (Mark), Darlene Merrick (Colin), Mary O'Hara (Rick), and Bob O'Hara (Linda). She is also survived by her beloved sister, Pamela Trecartin-Cyr, as well as her many grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense pride and joy.
