Sandra Marion Clark 1943-2021
She won many battles, but cancer won the war.
With broken hearts, the family of Sandra Marion (Atkins) Clark announces her passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, August 2, 2021. Born in Saint John, NB on June 15, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Mae (Taylor) Atkins.
She is survived by her husband Michael, the love of her life for over 65 years, son Robert Clark (Luba); daughter Cathy Fawcett (Grant) and adored grandchildren Allie, Jake, Ethan, Jack and Andrew; brother William Atkins (Bonnie) and many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members and a large network of friends.
Sandra graduated from Saint John High School and went on to complete the two-year program at the Teachers College in Fredericton. After a long period at home raising her family, she returned to school at NBCC to complete the Business Technology (Accounting) program in 1994, where she would meet many of her closest friends, and was affectionately known as “Mom” to many of her classmates.
A consummate planner and organizer, she volunteered for many years as a brownie leader and in many Guiding leadership roles, cementing her passion for navy blue clothing. While she was always talented in crafty pursuits, and taught ceramics and knitting, retirement gave her the opportunity to pursue her creativity with vigour, including dollhouse miniatures, knitting, quilting and sewing.
She was a member of the NB Genealogical Society (Saint John Branch) and also of the Marco Polo Quilt Guild, serving as the recording secretary for many years.
She loved to travel, and particularly would have gone to London and/or Hawaii on a moment’s notice.
The family would like to thank the staff and doctors in Oncology and Palliative Care for their compassion and support.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, (646-2424). There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at Ocean View Memorial Gardens on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. The procession will leave the funeral home at 2:15 p.m. A reception will follow at the funeral home. Donations in memory of Sandra may be made to the SPCA Animal Rescue or the charity of the donor’s choice.
