Ruth Esther (Mawhinney) Richardson

Ruth Esther (Mawhinney) Richardson, born March 20, 1936 in Maces Bay, NB, quietly passed into the arms of her loving Saviour on Thursday, February 4, 2021.

Loving wife of 59 years to Fraser George Richardson.  Caring mother to son Kevin (Kimberly) and daughter Kelly McLellan.  Adored grandmother to Nathaniel (Roebi), Isaac, and Ethan McLellan.  Beloved sister-in-law to David (Glenna) Richardson, Harold Shanks, and Inez Mawhinney.  A dear aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews. 

Predeceased by her parents John and Annie Mawhinney, sister Elsie Shanks, brothers Robert, Ralph, and Milford, sisters-in-law Irene Mawhinney and Eleanor Richardson, and son-in-law Kerry McLellan.

Ruth dearly loved her family and friends.  She cherished each one and made everyone feel at home, always documenting important dates and events in her many diaries over the last 50 years.  She loved to knit, crochet, and bake.  Her homemade socks and goodies will forever be remembered.  Ruth’s love for hymns was evident through her many hours of playing the piano and singing to her husband. 

Prior to becoming a stay-at-home mom, Ruth worked at Adjusters and Appraisers Insurance.  Over the years, her role as a wife and mother gave her great delight.  Becoming a grandmother allowed her to shine even brighter.  She dearly loved “Her Three Boys”.  A breast cancer survivor of 13 years, Ruth’s quiet strength and determination was displayed in all aspects of her life. 

A chartered member of Forest Hills Baptist Church, she loved the Lord with all her heart.  Serving as a Willing Worker and singing in the church choir for many years, Ruth was honoured to be part of her church family.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home.  A funeral will take place at Forest Hills Baptist Church on Saturday, June 26th, at 10:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Maces Bay Cemetery.
