The family of Ruth McEachern, wife of the late Merle J. McEachern, sadly announce her passing at Kennebec Manor on January 29, 2023, at the age of 102. She was born on May 4, 1920, in Victoria County, NB, daughter of the late Clyde and Mae Warman. She was predeceased by her parents, three brothers Ernest, Herbert, and Nathan and two sisters, Bertha, and Blanche.
Ruth is survived by her daughter Katherine (Kay) Fitzgerald and son-in-law Clark, her grandchildren Peter Fitzgerald (Trisha) and Angela Langille (Chris), great grandchildren, Cole and Luke Fitzgerald and Sophie, Kyla and Caleb Langille and Worren Martel some nieces and nephews.
Ruth was a member of St. Mary and St. Bartholomew's church, the Anglican Church Women, and the Loyalist Temple #13 Pythian Sisters. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening and she knit many articles of clothing for needy children. Ruth attended the Modern Business College on Prince William St. in Saint John and trained as a Stenographer. She worked in various offices part-time, mostly in the insurance industry. Most of all Ruth was a wonderful mother, a loving grandmother and a great cook. Her family felt fortunate to have her in their lives for so long.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses and staff at the Kennebec Manor for the care and support they offered Ruth.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Following cremation, visitation will take place on Friday, March 3, 2023, from 1-3pm followed by the Memorial Service at 3:00pm. A private family interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances in memory of Ruth may be made to St Mary St Bartholomew Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
