On Thursday, December 4th, 2025, Ruth (Arthurs) Langlais, wife of the late Roger Langlais went to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. She was born on November 2, 1940 in Saint John, NB to the late Samuel and Emma (Bean) Arthurs.
Ruth spent many years as a florist before following her faith and discovering her true calling as a Lay Pastor. Being a Lay Pastor filled her life with love, purpose, and devotion.
A charter member of Kingsway Assembly (now Waypoint Church) and an active member of Forest Hills Baptist Church, Ruth served joyfully and faithfully in every season of her life.
She loved to laugh, was an avid bowler, detail orientated, loved to shop and get a good deal. A true night owl, she was known for phoning with a late-night question or story, simply because she cared. Ruth had a remarkable gift for comforting others—often sitting at the bedsides of those taking their final breaths, ensuring they were not alone.
Hospitable and warm, she cherished having her family close. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. Though she was a wonderful mother, she was truly made to be a grandmother, forming a special bond with each of her 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Ruth was an extraordinary woman who made countless lives better. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her 5 daughters, Pauline (Peter) Trott, Rosalind (Peter) Wilson, Shelley (Michael) Atherton, Jacqueline Beck and Dawn (Luke) Nice; her 13 grandchildren, Sarah (Michael), Katlyn (William), Brittany (Ryan), Joshua, Amy (Sam), Adam, Austin, Luke (Keila), Rachel (Brett), Benjamin, Samuel and Thomas; her great grandchildren, Logan, Scarlet, Brody, Myles, Noah, Emmie, Carter, Chloe and Grayson; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Ruth was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents and siblings, she was predeceased by her granddaughter, Lauren Atherton.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Kings Way Care Centre for their compassionate care.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424) where visitation will be held on Saturday from 2-6pm. A Funeral Service will take place from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, December 8, 2025, at 2pm. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens at a later date.
For those who wish, memorial donations in Ruth's memory to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by her family.
