Russell Tucker Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Russell Joseph Tucker on July 14, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a period of failing health in his 65th year. He was born in Newcastle, NB, and the son of the late Edward & Annabelle (nee Frost) Tucker. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister Emma Gillespie of Renous,  brothers, William Tucker of New Jersey and Burton Tucker of Saint John,  niece Sheila Dunnigan of Ottawa, and father-in-law, Norman Poirier, of Burnt Church.

He is survived by his loving partner, Lois Poirier, his beloved son, Joshua Tucker (Jennifer Evans), as well as his bonus son, Cory Hayes (Preston and Ryder), mother-in-law, Eva Poirier, brothers-in-law Cavin Gillespie, Randy Poirier (Claudia), Robert Poirier (Bert Munn) and Kenny Poirier (Carole Savoie), sisters-in-law Darlene Tucker and Lorraine Urquhart ((Jeff) as well as nephews, Cavin Jr Gillespie, Kevin Tucker (Amanda), Martin Poirier, Jordan Munn,  and Riley Urquhart; nieces Sherry Gillespie, Anita Savoie, Ariel Munn, Julie Savage, and Kathy Poirier as well as grand nieces, grand nephews and cousins.

Russell worked in various positions and ended his career in the Bricklayer’s Union. Russell could make friends with anyone. He lived life to the fullest always looking for the next adventure. Russell enjoyed returning to the Miramichi area to visit with family, old friends and neighbours. At the campground he enjoyed telling wild stories of his youth and was always the last person to leave the campfire.

He was a true handyman, a jack of all trades and loved mentoring and sharing his fixing hacks with the younger generation. He loved anything with a motor and especially vintage automobiles. He enjoyed talking about cars and attending car shows with his brothers and nephew Kevin.

If someone was broken down on the side of the road or needed assistance, he would be the first to stop and offer help—not afraid to get greasy or dirty! His heritage home occupied his time with numerous renovations and usually one (or ten) projects on the go.

Throughout the years he provided hospitality and lodging to numerous out-of-town guests/relatives who came to Saint John whether for medical treatment, working shutdowns, searching for work or people just down on their luck until they could get back on their feet. It was even his idea to move his mother-in-law in with them when she was no longer able to live alone.

Later in life when Russell health declined, he discovered a true passion for collecting. A true Picker always looking for unique items.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB. In respecting Russell’s wishes, cremation has taken place with no visitation. There will be a service and get together held at a later date on the Mighty Miramichi. In lieu of donations, in keeping with Russell’s personality, be kind and helpful to others.
