Roy Hughes

It is with great sadness the family of Willard LeRoy “Roy” announce his passing which occurred peacefully on June 12, 2022, at his residence in Saint John in his 89th year. Born on April 29, 1934, he was the son of the late Willard and Susanna (Cogswell, Graham) Hughes.

In addition to his parents, Roy was predeceased by his loving wife Albina “Beanie” (Duguay) Hughes; children Mark Hughes, Laurier Hughes; grandchildren Michael Hughes, Michael Perry; son-in-law Roger McVicar; brother Raymond Hughes and sister-in-law Yvonne Lee (Arthur).

Roy proudly worked for the Province of New Brunswick Tourism at New River (Haggerty’s Cove) for many years until retirement. A Lepreau(er) for life, Roy and Beanie spent their early years following retirement travelling to visit with good friends and family across the United States and Canada. Many lifelong memories were made during these trips.

He will always be remembered by his children Donna Goodeill (Larry) of Lepreau, Edwin Hughes (Karen) of St. George, Peggy Perry of Pembroke, Ontario; brother-in-law Bruce Duguay (Sally); sisters-in-law Wanda Bent (Harold), Minnie Hughes; many cousins, nieces and nephews, along with their grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren who they loved unconditionally; Aaron (Amy), Jesse (Makala), Scotty (Ashley), Angelique, Jonathan, Katherine, Kaitlyn, Andrea, Lydia, Matthew, Lili, Desiree, Ayden, Stella, Sophia, Chloe, Ashlyn, Wyatt, Lucas, Lilah, Kyrie, Marlee and Claire.

Arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Resting at St. Margaret’s Anglican Church, 7393 Lepreau Village Road, Lepreau, NB, on Friday, June 17, 2022, between the hours of 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow in Lepreau Cemetery.

Donations in Roy’s memory may be made towards Lepreau Cemetery or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
